Man grows a pea plant in his lung!

A man who suspected he had lung cancer was told he was growing a pea plant instead!

Ron Sveden, a retired teacher from the US, suffered from short breath for months and was rushed into hospital in May, where he was told that the doctors had found a grainy mass in his lungs. Mr Sveden prepared himself for the diagnosis of terminal lung cancer and began to get his affairs in order. Afterwards, he found outs that it’s not a cancer after all; it’s a pea plant growing inside him! OMG!

A shocked Mr Sveden told reporters: "I was told I had a pea seed in my lung that had split and had sprouted. It is probably about a half-an-inch which is a pretty big thing." Doctors believe that he had eaten a pea and somehow managed to get it down the wrong hole, and it lodged itself in his lung, where it split and grew. They suspect that the warm and moist conditions in the lungs encouraged it to grow.

Mr Sveden finally got over the fact that it wasn't cancer and under-went surgery to remove his pea plant. He is currently recovering, and told reporters that his first meal had peas as a vegetable. He said: "I laughed to myself and ate them."

Personally, now I should be more AWARE when eating those little peas. :)
